Looks like all the millions the government put into flood control with the new deep tunnel that goes from Harley to Hoyt and the flood abatement project in the village has really paid off.
I don't see any improvemnet in flood control as of yet. I have noticed there is more debris being deposited on the trails than ever before that will need to be cleaned up. Also many downed trees on my little stretch. Jack is looking foreward to spending some quality time down there when/if things dry up.
I don't know. It may have. My wife said that when she drove by the parkway the water was flowing up to the edge of the road. We didn't get that much rain in the first place. I am sure the millions they are spending will solve all our problems just like the first deep tunnel did. Now they don't have any problems like, oh say dumping millions of gallons of raw sewage in the lake. Maybe they should bring in the Army Corps of Engineers to really "fix" things. If it doesn't work we should just throw a few 10s of millions more at it, right TC? Or better yet pretend it is just fabulous. Defending the MMSD after a series of expensive boondagles is a bit rich. As for me, I will believe it when I see it.
By the way, I know one of the head guys, recently retired, that explained that the sewage back up problems for most homes were the result of design problems when things were cobbled together over the years with lower pressure/flow pipes connected to higher pressure pipes. The sytems with lower pressure backed up during heavy rain due to the laws of physics and had nothing to do with deep tunnels. That is why we have seen so many sewer projects in problem areas in recent years.
I thought I solved the Milwaukee sewage problem last fall when I replaced my downspout and stopped my roof from draining directly into the sewer system. Oh well, my neighbor isn't to happy either as I now have my roof draining directly into his yard and I'm sure it makes it's way to the pictures that bubba published as well. I guess that means it is all my fault! Guess I better hook the downspout back into the sewer.

I think we an ride that!
What you are seeing is flood control. Did the water go over any roads or into any houses?

Looks like like the sewage is flowing just fine in these pictures! It appears that the pressure is good as well.
That is free range sewage. It is unfair that sewage should be made to live in tiny little pipes.
