He was explaining the Sicilian mafia reference of oranges and impending death.
It seems that the above photo hints that I may not be around much longer.
The presence of oranges in all three Godfather movies indicates that a death or a close call will soon happen. The Senator is framed for murder after playing with oranges at the Corleone house, and Johnny Ola brings an orange into Michael's office before the attempt on Michael's life. Fanucci eats an orange just before he is gunned down and Michael is eating an orange (it looks like an apple, but it is an orange) while plotting to kill Roth. Plus, Marlon Brando as Vito puts an orange peel in his mouth prior to his death.
––Peter Cowie, Coppola: A Biography•
The Godfather was the highest grossing film in history at the time it was released. It is still one of the highest grossing films in history.
Tony Soprano was also eating an orange in the second to last episode when he was talking to Carmella at the beach house and we all know what happened to him.....
Oh wait...actually none of us know what happened to him.
Anyway....I ask you this.......Who would want to harm little ol' Bubba??

Jamie participated in her first barista "throw-down" competition type thing at Alterra on Humbolt tonight and Julie and I headed down to cheer her on Super-fan style. This was a "sexy latte" contest judged on appearance only.....I don't think any of them even were drank....drinked...or drunk.
Judging by the oooh's, aaah's, and high fives I think she will do pretty good, but how would I know. To this day the only thing I've ever had at Alterra is black coffee....but I'm threatening.. that looks pretty tasty.

CHOCOLATE O CLARE........
Kenny farted on the podium. The guy from Minnesota thought it was funny....I didn't think so.
Some pics here.
I was tagged by Rachael....thanks.
1. I am a huge procrastinator (especially when it comes to things like this) which is partly why it took me the better part of a week to respond to being tagged.
2. I have an extremely low tolerance for mainstream country music.
3. I have no backbone when it comes to my kids...
4. I was a 7 handicap when I played golf in high school. I can still hit a golf ball a country mile, but now have no clue as to which direction it will go.
5. I always wanted to be Keith Richards when I was a little kid. I'm not so sure about that any more though. Have you seen that guy lately?
6. I'm not a big fan of fruit and really have to struggle to eat it. I've been telling my wife for 20 years that I need to start eating more of it. Now, when I say it she just gets annoyed.
I don't think there is anyone left to tag.

SSSC..........RACE REPORT
Well...
Y'all may find it hard to believe, but I'm not the Wisconsin singlespeed state champion.
This guy came out of nowhere to take the win and kill my dreams. Jeez..I didn't see that one coming.
That's OK though....he's in the dream killin' business.
Russell was kind enough to ride with me from the "mush" position with me taking on "sled-dog" duties. He was also more than willing to point out every less than perfect line I would take with the kind encouragment one would expect from Russell.
This was going really well until about 1.5 miles left in the race when he dumped me for some chick, and finished the race with her.
The race and race course were really fun....... I'm waiting for the results to post in hopes that I wasn't DFL.
I'm not sure how to give proper photo credit, but this guys much better half took the above shot.

WHOA!!..WHAT HAPPENED???...
Even the rich folks got hammered.
The pressure was enough to lift a manhole cover ...... huh....he said manhole.
Stuff is busted up everywhere.
Fer sure dude....
Exploration mode of transportation.
Taking up kayaking for a while didn't sound too bad to COOOP!...I was kinda bummed.
But I got over it.
You may want to give the trails a day or two to dry up before riding them.

BIKIN' AND BAR-BE-QUEIN'.............
How do you like my kitchen decor??
My Memorial Day weekend was really nice....
I did the WEMS race at New Fane on Saturday along with a bunch of other fine folks on a perfect day. I was right around mid-pack in the 6 hour solo race. I think if I do a few more 6 hr races, I might even be capable of a bit higher placing. The course was super-fun and the whole event was very well organized.
Props to Brittany and the Pedal Moraine crew.
I did a bunch of stuff on Sunday that was completely non-related to pedal-biking....or fun for that matter, but it had to be done....or so I was told.
The Memorial Day ride from my house was well attended. About 25 of us headed out on the Tosa trails for a few hours on another perfect day. The trails were a little greasy in spots from some rain the night prior, but all in all, they were pretty good. The Goat, however, was not in attendance. I heard from a reliable source he had a good excuse so I'll give him a pass. I think we missed him, even though I didn't hear anyone actually say so.
Now...on a technical note...
A friend of mine who shall remain nameless told me that if you need to use a "set back" seatpost, then you have too small of a frame.... basically calling me a dumbass...
to which I immediately called "BULLSHIT."...I'm no dumbass.
Another friend of mine who shall also remain nameless told me that the decision to use a setback seatpost has little or nothing to do with frame size and everything to do with the size of ones femurs, seat tube angle, and the proximity of ones hind parts over the bottom bracket. He went on to say, and I quote...." Listen you dumbass...You have been professionally fitted on your road bike.....measure the seat height and the distance from the tip of your saddle to the center of your bottom bracket. Set up all your bikes just like your road bike and you are golden"
So I did......(check out my high tech plumb-bob) and now the tip of my saddles are exactly 3 inches behind the center of the bottom bracket and they all measure exactly 31 inches from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the saddle for consistent seat height. So...depending on the seat tube angle...NOT the frame size....some of my bikes will use a straight post and some will use a set back post.....SO THERE!!
If this is common knowledge and you are reading this...I apologize and I owe you 41 seconds of your life back.....or in Randy's case...about an hour and a half.
If it is all a bunch of hogwash....then I guess I'm just a dumbass.

MEMORIAL DAY RIDE..........................
How 'bout a Memorial Day MTB ride on the fine trails of Wauwatosa???
The ride shall depart from Casa de Bubba at 11:00am and hit the woods for a few hour tour of all the places I've been hurting myself lately. We can lap past my place a few times in case anyone needs to knock off early. Fast folks, slow folks....We can break into 2 groups if necessary or the fast guys can wait for me at intersections and other strategic points. As you can see, I'm as flexible as a Russian gymnast.
If you are reading this, you are invited. ( you also need to find better things to do with your time)...
I understand the ride will also be the 3rd stage of The Tour de Goat IIII. I"m not quite sure what that means, but I've got the stones to find out.....Do you??
After the ride, I will be firing up the grill for some backyard grilling and bullshitting. So load up a cooler with your favorite dead animal parts and a few drinks and we'll have at it.
Casa de Bubba is located at 3215 N Menomonee River Parkway
